Walk

This banner references the invalid healed by Jesus at the Pool of Bethesda in order to consider man’s penchant for putting faith in objects which promise a supernatural link to God. The invalid had been coming to the “miraculous” waters for 38 years. Jesus asks,”Do you want to get well?” The question was important because the man had not asked Jesus for help. A beggar of that day could lose a profitable (and relatively easy) income if he were healed. The key to his healing was not his faith but Jesus’ command, “Walk!” This is unusual in the New Testament and made me think of all the objects, talismans and superstitions that we humans hold on to, even today.
