Rembrandt’s masterful original is deconstructed down to its essential elements. Color is layered on in patches, dribbled as if melting off of the figure of Moses with the Tablets held above his head, gazing dejectedly at the sacrilege below. “Money, Sex and Power” are scrawled across the lower part of the painting like a protest poster underscoring the disappointment and frustration that he must have felt at this moment on Mt. Sinai.
