The Froemmling's Floral

The painting above is part of a series called “Aerial Florals.” My concept was to paint bouquets from above, thus eliminating the usual context of stems, vase, table, etc. This gave me a more abstract subject of just colors and shapes, halfway between abstraction and realism. In my work, I try to maintain a balance between the visual dynamism of abstraction and the narrative capabilities of realism.
