WALL TEXT
Christ offers bread and wine, which he explains to His Apostles are His body and blood:
“This is my body, broken for you” is a central phrase from the Last Supper, where Jesus institutes Communion. It is found in 1 Corinthians 11:24 (KJV/NKJV), where Paul recounts Jesus breaking bread, symbolizing his physical sacrifice, suffering, and crucifixion for the redemption of humanity, and instructing his followers to do this in remembrance of him.
“This is my blood of the new covenant” (Matthew 26:28) is a foundational Christian declaration spoken by Jesus at the Last Supper, referring to his impending crucifixion as the sacrifice that seals a new agreement between God and humanity. It represents the forgiveness of sins, replacing the Old Testament system of animal sacrifices with his own blood, which is eternally efficacious.
