WALL TEXT
Jesus cursed the fig tree as a prophetic, symbolic act representing judgment on first-century Israel and the Temple for their outward religiosity but lack of spiritual fruit (Mark 11:12–25). The tree, having leaves but no figs, symbolized a false appearance of righteousness, demonstrating that God demands genuine spiritual productivity over mere appearances.
The incident also served to teach the disciples about the power of faith, occurring shortly before Jesus spoke about moving mountains through belief (Matthew 21:20). Jesus replied that with faith and no doubt, they could not only wither trees but also command mountains to be thrown into the sea, as the viewer can see in the background.
