Portal of Faith

Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

The ear serves as a door or portal which allows the Gospel to enter the body finding its way to the heart via the brain.

I often use the simple strategy of just painting what the Word says and I sometimes get a potent image. While painting this ear from a plaster cast, I slowly became aware of what a beautifully designed appendage the ear is—like a Baroque cathedral door to the sanctuary of our body: an apt parallel.
