Luke 15: 3-4 He told them this parable. "Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
This painting is based on the parable above. It addresses God's “radical grace” which extends to even the most sinful and far from God. The Bible tells us that God rejoices in heaven with the angels when one of his lost sheep repents and is returned to the flock. In this case, I chose Bernie Madoff but I’ve also done versions with Imelda Marcos, Trump and Hitler.
