WALL TEXT
This image was commissioned for a book on the Bible produced by my friend Barbara Reed. It represents a glimpse into the "infinite past,” "Bereishith" in Biblical Hebrew. This is the first word in both the Jewish Torah and the Gospel of John, translated into English as "In the Beginning." This is where God, as the Trinity, existed eternally, preceding Genesis, and even before time itself, as God has no beginning nor end.
The central triangle alludes to the Trinity; God the Father speaks the universe into existence. The various orbs represent the planets of our galaxy (including an anachronistic image of the Earth). Like enormous musical notes, they connect the visual to the aural: an interstellar chorus, what Johannes Kepler called the "music of the spheres," praising God for His Creation.
In the background, a blood-red cross overlays vestiges of fallen humanity. The pierced handprints of Christ echo the future redemption He would accomplish for mankind.
