Similar to the mango and fish paintings, I’m using a serial grouping of clamshells for this composition. They are slightly askew—just enough to release some pictorial tension and create visual interest, drawing attention to each shell’s particular coloration and markings, even though they are essentially the same shape.
Some might see this as a metaphor for majority world peoples, who are often lumped together anonymously by the media—even their need to sometimes step out of line in order to be noticed.
