Deep and Wide

This painting, viewed up close, appears to be a vortex of chaotic paint marks and random bits of detritus. Only from a distance does one discern the image of an upturned hand pierced by a nail.  The text, “Deep and Wide,” refers to the contemporary praise song and sets up a mental resonance which echoes through the over-sized image of pain and sacrifice. My goal is to evoke the cosmic significance of Christ’s offered Salvation as well as the terrible personal price He had to pay for it.
