WALL TEXT
This painting is another version of Samson's revenge against the Philistines recounted in Judges 14: 10- 15: 6. This version, localized in Negros, pictures Samson and two of the three hundred reported foxes as an Ebenezer or altar at the bottom of the composition. In the mid-ground fire trails the foxes running down the aisles between the canes. Mt. Kanla-on can be seen in the distance. Verses from the book of Judges veil the upper half of the landscape like red smoke and ashes rising from the fire. (Judges 14:10 - 15:6)
