WALL TEXT
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12: 1-2).
The simple title “ALTAR” should guide the viewer into a visual reminder of Paul’s exhortation above. Christianity does not fit into a box we reserve for religion and open only on Sunday. It is a radical reformation of our mindset and priorities, including but not limited to our heart, our time, where we go, our finances, our thoughts, and the work of our hands; all represented at the foot of the Cross in the painting above.
This is not to say we should try to earn our way to Christ by our good thoughts and deeds—His sacrifice on the Cross has accomplished that for us. Paul’s advice is, however, an authoritative proposal for the best way to utilize the salvation and new life extended to us; in short, to live the victorious Kingdom life.
