O Alarme

When painting this rooster, I thought of Peter's denial of Christ. As well as the passage in Romans that says "all of creation groans for its redemption" and how often in the Bible God uses the animals (Baalam's ass, Job's fish, etc.) and even the plants (the fig tree, the lilies) to bear witness of His work among us humans. I called this painting THE ALARM because the rooster acted as a wake-up call to Peter, reminding him of Christ's prophecy and, by extension, the life-changing three years that he had spent with Jesus. The rooster is also a metaphor for how art functions in our own lives; capturing our attention and reminding us that we too are living a life-changing history with the Savior.
