This crucifixion was done right after the 9/11 terror attacks. The immediate reaction in the U.S. was to strike back quickly and forcefully, but the image on the cross suggests otherwise. In the background, Christ’s words of forgiveness are overlaid with the phrase "EYE FOR AN EYE, TOOTH FOR A TOOTH," creating a tension between how we want to act and how we should act, according to the man who paid for even this horrific sin on the cross.
