WALL TEXT
What we call the Lord’s Prayer is actually the Disciple’s Prayer which Jesus taught them. In the gospel of John, chapter 17 we hear the real Lord’s prayer which Jesus prayed to his Father in the upper room surrounded by his disciples right before he went to the cross. His last request was that his followers would love one another as he and God loved one another so that the world would know that God had sent his only son into the world. This painting takes the form of a coffin and simultaneously a communion table. The disciples are represented by the receptacles above, receiving the body and blood of the Eucharist by transfusion and forming a type of menorah for the new covenant.
